-RICH BOROWY didn't come from a showbiz family, didn't schmooze within
the Ivy League, or wasn't part of the "fast-set". He wasn't born
in poverty, either. He DID place his mark in the field that's supposed be
called "Television", but TV itself never limited this person on
what he does best...and then some!!
Raised in Chicago, he first became involved with the media world at a very
early age watching his first TV show Sing Along With Mitch (NBC)
on his aunt's RCA Victor color set. Years after that first impact, Rich
turned to writing comedy. While attending his junior high school, he had written a number of comedy skits
with fellow classmates. Most of these comedy bits never saw the light of
day, since producing such comic bits were pretty fruitless to a bunch of
13 year-olds!
While attending
high school in suburban Chicago, three of these skits
written a few years before were produced in rough form in a television production
class. Honest Hymie's Used Cures, Ajax Instant Fire and Stowaway Travels
became Rich's first "hits".
Moving into his adults years, he landed his first professional role in television
production in Minneapolis, producing programming on community cable
TV.
This formed the creation of
Linear Cycle Productions, producing a
number of TV shows and documentaries.
Linear Cycle Productions was based in Minneapolis from 1983 to 1986, moving
to St. Louis in 1987.
Relocating to
Los Angeles in 1991, Rich continues to become involved
in both TV production, as well as the preservation and history of TV in
general, sharing on-going duties in Reel Deels/Fossil Films, a film archive/stock
footage library and supplier of 16mm and 35mm films for private collectors.
What lies ahead for Rich? "...Just as the same as before.." he
recently was quoted as saying "...We can only get better at what we
do...not that I'm bragging or anything. I can't pull the same mistakes as
the first time 'cuz I already did..."
